About the Role
A Working Supervisor/Process Technician in an injection molding manufacturing environment is responsible for overseeing production while also performing hands-on process setup, troubleshooting, and optimization. This role combines leadership with technical expertise to ensure safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Production & Process
Set up, start up, and optimize injection molding machines and auxiliary equipment.
Develop and adjust molding parameters to achieve quality and production targets.
Troubleshoot molding defects and implement corrective actions.
Perform mold changes and support machine startups.
Monitor machine performance and cycle times to maximize efficiency.
Ensure production schedules are met while minimizing downtime and scrap.
Supervision
Lead and direct production employees during the shift.
Assign daily work and monitor employee performance.
Train new employees on equipment, processes, safety, and quality standards.
Coach employees and provide performance feedback.
Assist with attendance, shift coverage, and employee scheduling.
Promote teamwork and maintain a positive work environment.
Quality
Ensure products meet customer specifications and quality standards.
Verify first-piece approvals and process documentation.
Investigate quality concerns and implement corrective actions.
Ensure compliance with quality systems such as FSSC, ISO, or customer-specific requirements (as applicable).
Maintenance
Perform basic preventive maintenance on molding equipment.
Coordinate with the maintenance department for equipment repairs.
Assist Tool Room personnel during mold troubleshooting and repairs.
Monitor equipment condition and report recurring issues.
Continuous Improvement
Reduce scrap and improve cycle times.
Participate in Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
Recommend process improvements to increase productivity and reduce costs.
Support 5S and housekeeping initiatives throughout the production area.
Documentation
Complete production reports and shift communication logs.
Record process changes and machine settings.
Maintain accurate downtime, scrap, and production records.
