Maintenance Technician (PLC Troubleshooting) – Food Manufacturing
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician with strong PLC troubleshooting experience to support the operation of a fast-paced food manufacturing facility. This position is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving production equipment to minimize downtime and maximize efficiency. The ideal candidate has experience working with electrical controls, PLCs, motors, conveyors, packaging equipment, and automated production systems while adhering to strict food safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and PLC-controlled production equipment.
Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on food processing and packaging equipment.
Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and PLC logic for troubleshooting purposes.
Troubleshoot PLC systems including Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Omron, or similar platforms (programming experience is a plus).
Repair and maintain motors, VFDs, sensors, relays, contactors, HMI systems, and industrial control panels.
Respond quickly to equipment failures to minimize production downtime.
Assist with installation, commissioning, and startup of new equipment and production lines.
Maintain accurate maintenance records using a CMMS system.
Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on equipment reliability and production efficiency.
Ensure compliance with OSHA, GMP, HACCP, SQF, and all food safety regulations.
Collaborate with production, engineering, and sanitation teams to maximize equipment performance.
Qualifications
3+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a food, beverage, or consumer packaged goods manufacturing environment.
Strong PLC troubleshooting experience (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar).
Experience troubleshooting electrical systems up to 480V.
Working knowledge of VFDs, HMIs, sensors, servo motors, conveyors, packaging equipment, and automated machinery.
Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, bearings, gearboxes, pumps, and mechanical power transmission.
Familiarity with preventive maintenance programs and CMMS software.
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, holidays, or rotating shifts as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
Associate degree or technical certification in Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, Electrical Technology, or related field.
Food manufacturing experience preferred.
Experience with robotic systems and vision inspection equipment is a plus.
PLC programming experience is a plus but not required.
